Hazel Findlay has been climbing for the vast majority of her life. What started out as climbing the limestone sea cliffs of Pembrokeshire for fun quickly turned into competition; something which saw her crowned British junior champion six times. At 16, she decided to switch focus to climbing on rock, her true passion.
Hazel certainly has a long list of accomplishments under her belt; she was the first British woman to climb a trad route at E9, the first British woman to free climb El Capitan in Yosemite (something she has now accomplished four times). Hazel was also the first person to ever free climb Adder Crack in Squamish, British Columbia, in 2012.
She has the title of the first female ascent on multiple climbs, including Air Sweden in Utah, The Doors in Italy, and Chicama in Anglesey. In 2014, Hazel climbed Fish Eye in Oliana, Spain, and in doing so reached the highest level climbed by a British female.
